I'm tired of people labeling 'Draw Mohammed' contest as anti-islam

I'm pretty tired about people labeling 'Draw Mohammed' contest as anti-muslim. Are you people seriously defending religious fundamentalism?

I don't care if you're a buddhist, muslim, christian, jew, whatever. People should be able to draw any character from any religion.

Let me give you an extreme example from my country. Jesus was depicted receiving god's cum from the heavens while on the cross during a modern art gallery organized by the Romanian National Institute of Art, several years ago. The gallery contained other crude elements of so-called art as well, such as a pink pony with a zvastica on its hip, paintings depicting rape and lewd and senseless poetry. Now, the vast majority of romanians are orthodox christians - they're superstitious as fuck. Yet, no bomb or murder threat was made after it.

The main complaint from the public/media was that the gallery was stupidly labeled under the phrase 'Romanian National Art'.

PS: Everybody draw Mohammed day was first held in 2010. So it's not something recently created to spite the attackers of Charlie Hebdo publication & the other french markets in the aftermath of that event.

Update: I know there's a lot of right-wingers who fancy this event. For example, the cartoon winner of this year's Draw Mohammed, Bosch Fawstin, is a major libertarian git. Just type his name in google and check out his blog. You'll get bullshit quotes from Ayn Rand, links to Atlas Shrugged (the cyber-libertarian bible), you'll see a cartoon of Obama on his hands and knees in front of Iran. Now, while I have no problem with actual satire, I can spot political bias. Iran is first and foremost a sovereign nation state with a record of attacking ZERO countries in the last 100 years. That's a pretty clean slate compared to other states, including western ones. Secondly, I want to point out that no matter the person's own political views (even if I agree with those views or not), no one should get murdered because of them, or because they draw on paper or on the internet pictures with characters from religion. If the christians can handle Sunday satanists making fun of Jesus (lewd manner included), then so can the muslims. And since the muslim community condemned the gunmen in the Texas shooting, that tells me everything is alright. We should never fall victims to generalization - for that is a grave error in judgement. It's like saying, a white american kid shot up several of his classmates and teachers, ergo all white americans are wacko gun nuts on a rampage. Or like saying, a black or tanned person was involved in a drive-by, ergo all people of darker skin are gangsters... that's just bullshit.

    ...Wait, *what*?!

That paragraph is actually *far* more scary than the fear of being killed by a religious fundamentalist. I would avoid that exhibition like a radioactive wasteland. No offense intended to the artists, of course.
